5,000 capacity venue at Bramley Moore Dock approved as meeting hears how it will affect Everton stad

Plans to create a 5,000 capacity venue at Bramley Moore Dock have been approved - and a council meeting has heard what it means for Everton's stadium plans.

The venue plan - from Cataclean Global Ltd - which involves hosting a range of events including boxing and DJ nights - was approved, but only once a lengthy list of conditions was attached which had been recommended by the police.

The premises in question is two large adjoining warehouses that currently exist on the Bramley Moore Dock site, where Everton plans to build its new stadium.

The space has already been home to high-profile events - under a different licence holder - including the Sound City Festival and more recently the popular Bongo's Bingo.

Today's meeting heard major concerns raised by both Merseyside Police and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service on the subjects of safety, prevention of crime and disorder and fire safety.

In its submission, Merseyside Police suggested that around 20 conditions were attached to the licence - a number of which the applicant took issue with and described as 'disproportionate' and 'excessive.'

These included stipulations that all security staff wear high-vis clothing and earpieces for all events, that all events must be ticket-only and that for boxing events, a full list of fighters involved must be issued at least 14 days beforehand.
